Just a quick VS News “pointer”…

… to an interesting piece at the “Willard’s Wormholes” site on Frank Sinatra’s diverse and fairly lengthy live music recording catalog (story link).

The outstanding ’57 Concert bonus CD recording I found when reviewing the Sinatra: Best of the Best album last November (here) re-stoked my passion for Sinatra’s live recordings. That Seattle recording of Frank in his late ’50s prime is one of my favorites but there is a bunch of other material to check out and the compendium piece at “Willard’s Wormholes”  is a great place to peruse the possibilities.

I don’t see eye-to-eye with all of Willard’s commentary — especially his critical take on some of the off color humor and over-the-top style of the Rat Pack (gotta remember the context of the times). That said, overall I found his rollup of Sinatra’s bountiful array of live recordings a fun and worthwhile read that had me rooting around to snag some of these LPs for my listening pleasure.

To whet your appetite…

One of my favorite numbers off that great ’57 Concert LP…
